Natural history / Documentary Filmmaker

topside & Underwater
About

Hey, I’m Ollie. I’m a camera operator, assistant and technician working primarily on natural history and documentary productions. I have built strong technical knowledge across a broad range of top-tier camera systems and filmmaking equipment.

I’m also a commercially qualified media diver and an experienced rebreather diver. I’ve worked on topside and underwater shoots for blue-chip documentary series for National Geographic and other broadcasters.

In my spare time I love being outdoors and am a keen climber and freediver.

Experience

I’ve worked on-location as a camera assistant on a number of international and local shoots, including for the BBC’s Natural History Unit, Wildstar Films and an independent feature documentary.

This work has taken me across five continents and enabled me to build in-the-field experience using a large range of camera systems and filmmaking equipment, from car-mounted GSS and long-lens shooting to cable dollies and underwater sliders.

I enjoy working underwater and ‘topside’ equally, and have previously worked as an in-house camera technician at Wildstar Films for nearly two years, where I was able to further my technical knowledge across a number of blue-chip series and films created for National Geographic and Disney Nature.

I have well over 100 logged hours diving an AP Inspiration rebreather in a wide range of conditions, from 45 metre decompression dives using trimix in the English Channel to 6 hour-long filming dives on coral reefs.

I’ve been the safety diver and camera assistant on rebreather, open circuit and freediving shoots, as well as the dive supervisor responsible for diver safety. I have worked with divers who use other rebreathers, including rEvo, Pelagian and XCCR.

I keep myself ready to dive with an in-date medical and first aid and oxygen administration qualifications. I regularly freedive in the UK.
